When the Dieting Gets Tough... Keep on Going!
Spring is here, and we're all rushing to get back in the gym and starting up all weird types of diets. But it is hard! I am speaking from experience, because I was eating healthy up until 5 months ago and it all went to shit. I was more focused on eating whatever I wanted rather than what was good for me and what to eat in moderation. So after my vacation to Trinidad in December, I tried to jump back into clean eating. A lot of ya'll like myself know how hard it is to jump from bake and saltfish, rice and peas, sandwiches etc. to salads and no carbs. I realized that bread and rice has become my weakness (so sad) and that I had to do something about it if I ever wanted to reach my body goal (Ashanti). So with that being said, I joined kickboxing in February, and fortunately started working at one of the best gyms shortly after. I am motivating myself to workout 3 times a week, and cut out bread and limit rice to once every 2 weeks. I recently was able to eliminate bread from my diet. I realized that I mainly consumed bread for breakfast, so I eat Clif protein bars instead. These protein bars are good and they keep me full until lunchtime.
My suggestion to you is find something to replace the foods you crave the most, or find a way to eat it in a smaller portion. I believe it all has to do with will-power, and your level of commitment. One of the most important things to do while eating better and exercising is to treat yourself once a week. Pick a day out of the week and designate it as your cheat day to enjoy your favorite foods.
Create a workout routine! A great way to stay consistent with your workouts, is planning ahead and scheduling days to go to the gym. As well as, taking classes like Zumba and Kickboxing, to have fun and stay active.
Most importantly when transitioning your diet to proteins and vegetables, be creative! Being healthy does not have to be bland or boring. I'll list a couple of my favorite recipes and keep ya'll updated on my fitness journey! Stay tuned!
