On Self Love

It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I’ve been healing, trying to center myself, and really just figure life out. One thing I have learned on my journey so far, is that you really have to show up for you, hold you down, love you, go hard for you, because nobody will do it the same 24/7/365. I found myself giving love to people who wouldn’t or couldn’t reciprocate it. But I had hoped if I showed them how I wanted to be treated then they would show that same kindness. If I showed up for them, they’d show up for me. It doesn’t happen this way. I wish it was this simple, I wish people were selfless and genuine but we live in a world full of ego and opportunists and when you try to live through your heart 9 times out of 10 it’s going to hurt. Not everyone has the same heart or mindset as you. Self-love is a constant journey, and it really isn’t easy with a billion distractions. So hone in on yourself, your craft, your hobbies, your career, your love, and eventually you will attract that same energy from someone who will show up for you in every way time and time over again.

The right people fill your cup, the right people overflow it. The wrong people will drain you, they’ll take whatever you give and give nothing in return.

You can’t be right for the wrong people, in all relationships. I try to believe if God intends for them to be the right one, if it is written in the universe then it’ll be. And until then everyone on the way and in between is a test or lesson or a sign that we just need to focus more on loving ourselves.

Take more time to learn you and teach you. There are things that we do that we aren’t completely conscious of or why we do certain things. Practice checking in with yourself, how’s your breath? your mind? your heart?

These are all valid questions. questions that make you a little more focused and self-aware. Also, most people will not check-in with you in this way, and you cannot rely on others for this. this is your job, your journey, your health, and growth. Write it down, make a mental note, just acknowledge how YOU are feeling. We live in a busy world, most of us are so occupied with work, entrepreneurship, school, our relationships with others, that we don’t spend much time working on the ourselves. Take the time to be by yourself. Read, learn something new, meditate.

Whatever it is, choose you, and the more you show up for you the more that love will radiate off of you and the universe will draw in what is meant to be for you.
